We’ve enjoyed so many beautiful events at The Loft of Elements Preserved since we began our business there in August, 2017. Those have included weddings, engagement parties, rehearsal dinners, milestone birthdays, milestone anniversaries, bridal showers, baby showers, paint parties, a bridal expo, and corporate planning meetings. The Loft offers beautiful natural light, however, and it’s the perfect location for use by photographers! We’re scheduled for Holiday mini sessions, and have already hosted photographers for corporate head shots, theater head shots, and styled shoots. The expansive table shot must be credited to Nicole Jansma Photography.
Pulling a group of creative vendors together for themed styled shoots has provided our business with many trusted vendors we now recommend to our clients, whether bakeries, wedding dress salons, makeup and hair artists, stationers, videographers, or florists. As the sunshine peaks into the upper floor to ceiling windows in the early morning hours, and fades across the length of the venue throughout the day, we’ve found that even on the cloudiest days, the light is still spectacular for photography. Providing our guests with two large restrooms, with enough room to comfortably change clothing during your photo shoot, and racks to hang extra change of clothes, we provide more than just a photo studio. Along with spacious restrooms, each rental includes use of the in-house furnishings available at the time of your booking. Whether you want your client to pose on the elegant sofa, or sit at the 14 ft. Harvest Table with their laptop and a cup of coffee, there are many places to create originality and stunning photos.
Photographers looking for indoor space for mini-sessions will be more than pleased with the lounge seating and prop options available at our showroom a few steps away. We can custom design a setting specifically for your photo shoot, and add in props fit for the season or the theme, whether maternity shoots, Mommy and Me Mother’s Day shoots, Valentine’s Day specials, holiday mini-sessions, engagement sessions, and more. We’ve recently hosted several photographers who were looking for a natural light space for head shots. With sufficient space for a large group to gather while waiting for their turn at being photographed, our lounge seating offers comfortable options. The above bridal-style inspiration shoot was planned and photographed by alexandralee photography. The stunning bridal gown is from Simply Luxe Bridal, and the floral decor is from Limani Designs. Hand-lettering by Ashley at paperloveclub. I just love the use of vintage chalkboards or mirrors placed at important areas within the wedding and reception area. They’re such a unique way to direct guests to a guest sign in table, your sweets table, share a message from the happy couple with your guests, a menu board, a charcuterie board, and so on.
What’s better than a warm, inviting, and luxury space to take photographs or be photographed, with the additional options of added inventory and props just steps away? Sharing our studio is a great option for photographers who don’t have their own studio space, and a great way to save on added expenses of creating one in their own home. We feel we have even a great option with the vast inventory available for your use, through a simple visit to our showroom space. Additional fees apply to extra rentals added to your photo session, but with that comes the advantage of our storing those pieces, ready for the next photographer who may be looking for something similar. Overhead costs for storage in the Chicago area are not inexpensive, and by having such an expansive inventory to choose from, we feel we have a real advantage to offer photographers who don’t have the storage space for extra sofas, chairs, and prop pieces, or the cost of building a studio, or converting a room in their home to one. Whether you use it one time a year for mini sessions, or repeatedly for clients who enjoy the luxury of indoor photography (whether safe from the heat or the cold weather), it’s a beautiful option. Why not consider a maternity shoot with a vintage Marmet pram (above), or a wicker buggy? Our vintage white, wicker bassinet is stunning for all those newborn photos! Springtime brings bridal showers, and this one was simply gorgeous punctuated with fresh tulips and budding branches! (Below)
We’ve hosted several styled shoots over the last year, and each one has had a different theme and look, all completely possible through the use of different furniture and accent pieces, creating a visual for our clients to “see” just how a certain settee looks with a table as a sweetheart table, or a sweets table completely styled with desserts, or a backdrop consisting of macrame or a floral filled arbor. Creating an inviting Harvest Table with place settings for 16 is a dream when we use mismatched china, stemware, and table decor. Whether rustic or modern, classic elegance, or French-style, romantic Boho or modern farmhouse, you’re certainly not limited when it comes to dressing the table to match the theme for the shoot. And, at the end of the day, every person involved has brought their best to the table, and we all get to enjoy the results of those efforts with photographs available to each of us for use on our websites, and social media sites. Most often, a blog is written and the photos submitted for publishing with numerous bridal blogs, which gives all of the creative vendors more exposure. A great effort by everyone involved results in great media exposure afterward. And, yes, we do offer a limited number of dates for styled shoots during the week! Our weekends are typically booked or held open for events.
Whether you’re looking for space for a day for your client who wants an alternative available in case of rain for their engagement photos, maternity photos, children’s and infant photos, or for family mini sessions for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, or holiday photos, or have ongoing need for studio space for your business, we’re certainly glad to hear from you and hope we can fill your needs for a natural light studio space, in the suburbs, with just enough urban feel when you step outside to add a few outdoor photos to the mix. The above photos are from a romantic-boho, wedding-styled inspiration shoot, photography by Laurel and Prairie, and flowers by fabflorachicago, dress by Alice in Ivory Bridal.
