On Tuesday, October 2, 2018, we celebrated our one year anniversary at The Loft, and a ribbon cutting ceremony sponsored by the Elgin Downtown Neighborhood Association, for our sister business on Spring Street in Elgin, IL, Elements Preserved Vintage Rental. With the availability of a retail-type showroom space just steps from our venue, we decided to move our inventory from a warehouse in East Dundee to the vacant space just steps from The Loft. We are thrilled to offer clients an opportunity to visit the design showroom, following their tour at The Loft. We have found it to be a great way to introduce the idea of “renting” decor and tabletop pieces for their events, rather than buying them, thereby making the entire event less stressful and time-consuming for the client.
Closest business acquaintances, friends and family were invited to our open house, following the ribbon cutting ceremony. We also invited Christine and her team from Branching Out – Chicago, @nwchicagoflorist, to decorate the space as they wished, including our 8 ft. fluted columns, roping in the ceremony seating area, swags on our vintage hanging wall lanterns, and a beautiful Harvest table. The polished silver vintage sugar and creamers were stunning, mixed with mercury glass along the center of the 14 ft. table. As a statement piece, Christine also brought floral decor for two vintage four-arm silver candleabra, which anchored the 14 foot table. Each centerpiece was filled with a moss base, lush beautiful roses, hydrangea, and eucalyptus, and looked regal on the tablescape.
A variety of sweets were donated by two local businesses, and as always, they were a hit! We were so fortunate to have Craft Donuts + Coffee, West Dundee, donate a variety of delicious donuts for the event. You can never go wrong with donuts! You should check out their donut wall they have available to rent, as well! Think donuts for your wedding reception or bridal shower; they can be so creatively displayed, and these never last long!
We also had a great variety of sweets donated by Delish Cakes, with two shops nearby! Check them out if you’re booking your event at The Loft; they’re just a couple of blocks away at their Elgin location. Alecia, owner at Delish, provided cake pops, macarons, and some absolutely delicious mini cupcakes! Red Velvet…….oh yes! This is one of my very favorites! But everything was so yummy!
With a few members of the DNA and Elgin Convention and Visitor’s Bureau present, Jennifer Fukala, Executive Director of the Elgin DNA spoke a few words about welcoming Elements Preserved to the Elgin community, and then gave me an opportunity to share my thoughts. I really had nothing prepared, but spoke from my heart. We are very grateful for the opportunity to witness some very special events in The Loft of Elements Preserved, as well as offer space for creating, supporting each other, sharing inspiration, and providing an opportunity for events to bring the community together. Our love for the Arts seems to make our choice to bring Elements Preserved to Elgin a good one. Whether we’re offering a calligraphy class or a wine and cheese tasting workshop, a chamber music concert or a photography styled shoot, a bridal shower or a children’s tea party, a photography studio space or a girl’s night out, we feel certain we have chosen a great location to share the beauty of The Loft of Elements Preserved with others.
We feel that with the addition of our design showroom, we offer so much more than just a venue rental to our clients, as they are able to add to their package with tabletop decor, mirrors, seating, rugs, backdrops and props, and more. For some, the idea of planning an event from long-distance can be overwhelming, until we take the time to hear their ideas. We really try to focus on understanding the look our clients want, and then it’s easy for us to make suggestions with items we have available. It’s pretty fulfilling to know we’ve eased our clients mind that we “get” what they are describing, and can bring their vision to life. A recent bride shared this: “When I decided I wanted to use vintage elements in my decor, I found Elements Preserved and contacted Beth. I assumed I would just rent a few pieces and that’s all, but I discovered Beth was an angel sent from above, and she helped me with so much of the planning process. She understood how difficult it was to plan an event from across the country, and she stood beside me (figuratively) for a year, planning out this day with me….”
We’re so glad for the vendors we’ve met in this journey that work tirelessly in their craft, and it’s a joy when we can refer our clients to them for additional needs for their event. Working together, we’ve created some beautiful and memorable events in The Loft, but more than that, we have beautiful memories of clients who are so happy they chose The Loft for their special event. Our goal is to be approachable and warm to each of our guests, and we hope each leave knowing that we’ve savored a little of their event for ourselves.
