A Winter Elopement at The Loft of Elements Preserved

Updated: May 11, 2021

There's no season that a tiny, elopement wedding isn't beautiful at The Loft of Elements Preserved. And, this winter elopement was no exception.

When we were contacted by bride-to-be Veronica, just a couple of months before her requested wedding date, she gave me very clear directions that they wanted something simple, romantic, and whatever suggestions I made, they'd be happy with because they were in love with the easy, classic, vintage style that I had created there. We pulled in our vintage mantel, Pottery Barn Lanterns, to decorate the ceremony area, along with numerous tabletop decor from our nearby showroom, Elements Preserved Vintage Rental.

Immediately after touring the Loft, Veronica visited David Gaffke, owner at The Complete Bridal - Bridal Boys, in East Dundee, and excitedly texted me that she'd found her dress the same day! We love to refer our clients to vendors we've personally worked with, know their professionalism, and know that the end product will be spectacular!

Veronica and her family chose to serve their guests buffet-style, using the local Dream Hall Kitchen catering. Another local vendor used was Piece-A-Cake Bakery, located in East Dundee, and after 25 years, the've recently chosen to close their doors! We'll miss them too, as we ordered numerous birthday cakes from them when our kids were young.

Veronica worked with Town and Country Gardens for her bridal bouquet, boutonniere, and centerpiece florals. For our farm table decor, Veronica chose our tall, silver, four-arm candleabras on each of the tables, while we set the tables with vintage silver champagne buckets that were filled with more florals from Town and Country.

Photography was captured by The KSB Photo, who we highly recommend to capture a natural, classic photo. Photography style is a personal choice, whether you choose bright and airy edits, dark and moody edits, or the more natural color classic edits. Take the time to visit your possible photographer's website and social media to be aware of their editing style, and remember, your photos may be the most important investment you make for your wedding day, because those will be the memories passed down from generation to generation. We have several recommended photographers shown on our website, and each of those have been carefully chosen because of their professionalism and quality of work.

With about 30 guests in attendance, this evening wedding celebration was nothing short of stunning, and included a beautiful photo spot near our 10 ft. Christmas tree that was sparkling with mini lights and silver and gold ornaments.

Every rental package includes the use of our farm tables and chairs, and the in-house furniture that's creatively staged in The Loft. Our beautiful Lounge seating area was the perfect family photo vignette, while our vintage charcoal buffet served as a stunning sweets table. Filled with mercury glass and winter greens, the simple decor made the beautiful wedding cake take center stage.

While guests were served appetizers, the lovely couple had photos taken both inside the venue, and in the vintage, urban areas surrounding The Loft, before heading back for dinner together with family. We are lucky that there are so many photo opportunities just steps from our venue, with the Fox River, vintage architecture in the surrounding buildings, gardens, brick walkways, murals, and Festival Park, just a short walk away.

What's more beautiful than a night-time photo just outside The Loft, with snow just beginning to fall as the bride and groom share a romantic kiss! It's not hard to see why evening weddings may just be our favorites!

We welcome everyone to consider a tiny, elopement wedding where you can fully enjoy each guest that witnesses your vows, enjoy dinner together, celebrate your cake tasting, and dance the night away, under the sparkling cage-pendant lighting and vintage chandeliers that hang from the tall ceilings found in the historic building we now call home for The Loft of Elements Preserved.
