We were recently approached to be vendors for the Chicago Big Fake Wedding, to be held in the Builders Building, downtown Chicago. To say that we were thrilled for this opportunity was an understatement, however, we knew it would be a huge undertaking. After a couple of days to think about our financial commitment, as well as our physical commitment, we decided to move ahead.
As a Vendor in the Vintage Rental category, we agreed that I would style a Lounge Area for guests to mingle, as well as for the bride and groom to have photos taken. Using the color palette we were given, I styled the Lounge using a beautiful “new to us” vintage sofa that we just purchased this summer, using dark aqua pillows as accents, along with a double set of French vintage side tables, used as a coffee table, and two Platinum Louis-XV style armchairs separated by a vintage set of Italian nesting tables! Behind the sofa, I placed a vintage white arched double door, draped with a garland of greenery. Vintage leather books, wicker demijohns, and brass candlesticks accented the tabletops.
Shortly before the event, I was asked if I would consider designing three additional reception tables. Those tables were used for guests to be seated, while the ceremony took place, which allowed them time to view the designs of each vendor, take notes, business cards, and ideas of each of the very different themed tables.
We had one very full day, leaving our warehouse at about 11 a.m., with a panel truck loaded, as well as our full size SUV. Once we were downtown with two vehicles to unload on Lower Wacker Drive, things got a little more nerve-wracking! But, we did it, and had a great setup!
With over 250 people in attendance, we made great connections with other vendors, some very interested clients, and most of all, are waiting for all the professional photos that will be sent our way!
Here are a few of our photos from The Big Fake Wedding, a great experience for any couples looking for wedding ideas, vendors, and venues, while experiencing a wedding (renewal), with all the extras! Congrats to the happy couple!
