It’s been a busy summer, with events at our Venue, @The Loft of Elements Preserved, nearly every weekend, but we want to tell you about something else that was a first for us, and a pretty exciting day to add to our events history! Events Rentals with our company is not just limited to weddings and bridal showers! We have some very unique and beautiful props specifically for baby showers, 1st birthdays, and maternity shoots, and here’s what we have to tell you about our Baez maternity shoot.
In early June, we were contacted by Lupita Castaneda, owner of @abbybellacouture, a couture seamstress of maternity gowns and clothing, to participate in a maternity shoot with none other than the soon-to-be mommy, Irmarie, fiance of Javier Báez, infielder for the Chicago Cubs! Of course, we jumped on this opportunity, and were all in!
We were given a little background information on the look she, along with photographer, Skai Vingilys, wanted for the shoot, and then we invited them to visit our warehouse to take a look at our inventory. Wanting a classic look for seating, they chose the Platinum settee, a Louis XV style tone-on-tone platinum fabric with painted wooden gold-framed settee, one of our very favorites. Along with this, they decided on our bed set-up, with the Dream-Catcher backdrop being our pair of vintage fluted pillars, with our custom-work dream catcher that hangs from a birch pole. The bed linens are from our personal collection, and include vintage Battenberg lace beauties! Pillow shams were included, and are some of my favorites from The Shabby Chic Collection, by Rachel Ashwell, available at Target Stores.
Along with planned sets inside the Kreative Studio, in Riverside, IL, home to these 4 creative ladies: Lupita Castanada of @abbybellacouture, photographer Skai Vingilys, along with hair stylist, @marfy227 Mariefel Westa, from mitchellchristophersalon.com, and makeup artist, Vee Rubio, @veerubiomakeup, there were also plans in place for some outdoor photography. We delivered our vintage European pram, a Marmet buggy which looks just like the beautiful buggies used by the Royal Family for all their babies! We are pretty pleased with having snagged such a beautiful piece of European history, a pram with that always classic look for photos and events involving newborns!
When I arrived to begin set up at the Kreative Studio, Irmarie was already seated and getting the final touches of makeup and hair styling by Vee Rubio and Marfy. Jorelle Gates, photographer and videographer, was also on set to create a video of behind the scenes action, which gives the viewer just snippets of the day’s activities.
Eucalyptus was brought in by All Flowers by Marisa, and I carefully decorated the birch dream catcher with sections of it. Then I made the bed, actually a blow-up mattress which was covered by vintage Battenberg tablecloths. Once the bed was in place, and hair and makeup were finished, the photographers captured photos of Irmarie on the bed, and the Platinum settee, dressed in a lace bodysuit while she admired her beautiful baby bump! These photos will be such sweet memories for the lucky couple, and a keepsake experience, for sure!
Then, Irmarie changed into an all black dress, and posed on the settee which had been carried to the lower level of the studio. With exposed brick walls, and signs of age all around, these photos capture a very different look of a composed Irmarie, deep in thought for her sweet babe she’s still carrying. What’s so special about these photo sessions is that Lupita, @abbybellacouture, designs beautiful clothing, sometimes specifically for a photo session or upon request, and has many gown and dress choices already available in her studio, for rent, for the client who want to use them for her late pregnancy photographs.
For the next session, Irmarie changed into a gown of gold with hints of blush, and we walked a short distance in the neighborhood to some vintage apartments where the Marmet pram was set in place for more photos with Irmarie. These are some of my favorites to date, with this piece of vintage history and the urban look they were photographed in.
As people were returning home from work about the time we were here, there was quite a bit of attention focused on the group of us as we walked down the sidewalk to the desired shooting location! It’s doubtful anyone has seen such a beautiful young mommy-t0-be dressed in a flowing gown, pushing a vintage pram, in Riverside, IL, anytime lately! Little did they know this was Baby Baez and his mommy!
Before the evening ended, the group traveled to 31st Street Beach in Chicago, and took amazing parachute-style photographs of Irmarie in her flowing gown, while being videographed by Jorelle Gates.
When so much of our rental focus is on weddings and engagement or bridal showers, we really enjoy the opportunity to bring out a few very special and unique rental pieces for baby showers, maternity shoots, and family photography sessions, including lifestyle sessions. If you are looking for a colorful, creative, and fun way to set your photo memories apart, consider contacting Kreative Studio in Riverside, IL, to schedule a consult including including makeup, hair, a beautiful gown, and photography.
We hope you’ve enjoyed reading about this exciting event we were able to participate in, and get some ideas for yourself. We always say that the details make the difference, and we are firm believers in this. We’re not talking just about the details in the props that are special and unique, but the details we go to, to make your event as special as it can be! Now that Baby Baez has arrived, we’re seeing photos of this sweet little guy! I’m sure his mommy and daddy could not be more happy! Cheers to the happy family! And, go Cubbies!
