Sorry, folks, because I seem to be very lax in writing blogs, but it’s become very apparent how important these weekly or more often “notes” of inspiration, stories about recent events, the “nitty gritty” of how we’re doing are, to our followers, and I must get better at making these a priority.
We’ll back up a couple of months when after several weeks of planning, our 1st Bridal Expo was held at The Loft of Elements Preserved, our Venue in downtown Elgin, IL. The Loft is the ideal location for the intimate ceremony, reception, personal bridal or baby shower, or other private event.
To show the full potential of our sister business, Elements Preserved Vintage Rental, we styled little vignettes for each of our vendors to set up with their marketing materials, from inventory available in our warehouse. You’ll find our inventory page HERE.
We invited Lisa Kathan Sulzbach, to exhibit her intimate, real-life moments of photography in the attractive vignette she chose for herself from our inventory. Lisa has a style all her own, and she really captures the personal moments that make a couple who they are together; “better together,” as the saying goes. The memories that you have after 5 or 10 years together, or 25 years or more, become more special when you have photos to look back on, that capture the feeling you had at that moment. These are the photos that can bring you back to that place in time.
We provided a Lounge seating area for our guests to mingle and relax, as we feel this is so inviting to the intimate celebration, and for this event, we chose our black leather camelback tufted settee with two black leather side chairs. Accompanied by a coordinating French-style coffee table and area rug. When you rent The Loft for your event, you have the choice of using the in-house furnishings available at the time, or you can turn the space into something that completely fits with your colors, your style, and your theme, by renting pieces from our vast inventory. Whether you’re wishing for a masculine leather look, with woods and rich colors, or a feminine garden-themed bridal shower, complete with garden accents and vintage garden tables, we’d love the opportunity to work within your budget to create the event of your dreams.
One of the absolute highlights of the day was the live-edge charcuterie board, balanced on two of our whiskey barrels, filled with the most delicious and delightful spread of catering goodness, provided by Wanda Fox of Fox & Company. Specializing in catering for the grazing table, where all the delightful cheese, fruit spread, honey, nuts, chocolate, breads, and fresh fruits can be found, the grazing table has become the new alternative to the traditional canapé option; they’re inviting, sociable, and they fit any reception format! Together with our whiskey barrels, the attractive displays kept our guests coming back for more of the various cheeses displayed in such beautiful ways, including a small wedding cake!
We highly recommend the grazing table as an alternative to the traditional sit-down dinner, especially for an intimate cocktail style event, an elopement wedding reception, or even a morning birthday brunch. The grazing table is really a very simple concept of what we often find ourselves doing at our backyard picnics, but in a very beautiful way. Whether used for sweet or savory sharing boards, it’s ideal for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and everything in between.
Ashley, owner at Paper Love Club, displayed beautiful invitation suites, hand-lettered, along with vintage stamps and samples of hand-lettered envelopes, available for clients to add to their invitation orders. As an artist, Ashley does a lot of hand-painted and water-color work, and it’s truly amazing to see all that she creates when presented with colors, and the theme of the event. We’ve worked with Ashley on several occasions, and love her work. When we invited Ashley to her vendor space, her face lit up, and she said she couldn’t have asked for anything better, because she loved the boho-style of the vignette we put together. With our vintage fluted columns, balancing a dream-catcher on a birch pole, our Joy Sweetheart table, and a vintage hooked rug, and a few scattered geometric vial vases, Ashley set out to display her beautiful samples of work for clients to see. We loved the hand-lettered window that Ashley designed, just for the charcuterie board filled with savory and sweet goodness, at our event.
Not to forget about the Sweets Table, our charcoal vintage buffet stood in as the perfect sweets table as it does for most events at The Loft. Alicia, owner at Delish Cakes, has two locations, and one just a few blocks from our Venue, on Chicago Street in Elgin. If you love red-velvet cake, you won’t be disappointed in the cake pops, the mini-cupcakes, or the wedding cake that comes from Delish Cakes. The wedding cakes displayed on our vintage buffet were stunning, and examples of all the creativity that goes into Alicia’s work at the bakery. As important as desserts are to the final taste of the event, we’ve tried many of her creations, including the prettiest themed cookies for special events!
Take a look at that beautiful truck, The Luck Truck, with Janet McCarthy of the Lucky Junk Shop. Janet is such a sweetheart, and just opened a new shop in Barrington, featuring home design, workshops, shopping, and fun times! The beautiful green Luck Truck is for rent for your events, too, and we love being able to promote their business here! What a cool way for our couples to add the best of Luck to their wedded bliss, with a ride in the Luck Truck!
Do you love ice cream? How about adding an ice cream cart from Cook’s Ice Cream Cart, just down the street from The Loft! They have the cutest little ice cream cart filled with all varieties of toppings, and a variety of ice cream choices, too! What a great way to serve ice cream to your guests on a hot summer day! Or on a cold, winter day, for that matter! I like ice cream year-round!
Vintage mis-matched china place settings and stemware were provided by Karen London, of The Vintage Table. Add some vintage beauty to your head table or all your guests tables by incorporating mis-matched china place settings, pictured here, along with beautiful floral displays from Alyssa M. Jackson with Jackson Floral Design.
And, lastly, we were thrilled to provide a vendor space for one of our very favorite photographers, Nicole Jansma, who always captures so many details in her beautiful photos! We really appreciate the blog Nicole shared a few weeks ago, about her visit to The Loft and Elements Preserved’s Warehouse!
Be sure to see her work, here: https://www.nicolejansmaphotography.com
