We have had the pleasure of styling three different Holiday sets for photographers to use during our advertised Holiday Mini-Sessions in The Loft. Is there anything more fun that creating a styled set, including seating, big and beautiful Christmas trees, a white mantle distressed to perfection, and all the props needed to finish the winter scene?
We know that there are many photographers without studio space, and let’s be real, in the Midwest, the weather isn’t so predictable once October rolls around. Many people love having outdoor photos, and I can’t deny that being outside in nature is just the best! I love nothing more than seeing a vintage sofa perfectly placed in a field of wildflowers, or a wheatfield, or in a forest of pines, but, weather is always a factor. So, offering the option of a beautiful indoor space, complete with hardwood floors, natural light, and a custom-styled set, is pretty attractive.
We love to rent sofas and props to photographers for their outdoor sessions, and our rates are easily incorporated into most budgets, however, more times than I can count, we’ve had to cancel those orders for delivery because of rain or increment weather. It’s always a gamble!
Enter the opportunity to have a beautifully styled set, in the comfort of a warm studio space, providing additional clients a space to wait for their appointment if they arrive early, with restrooms large enough to provide dressing room space if needed. Add in the fact that photographers have the possibility of adding any number of props from our nearby showroom, during their studio time. Additional fees apply.
This benefit is one of the best to consider, in my opinion! It’s not fun having to purchase and store props in your home, or car, for mini-session, only to have to carry everything into the space you’re using, along with all of your camera equipment. When using our space, you simply arrive with your camera and equipment, our set is styled and ready, and you do a little light testing and you’re ready for your first client. This is a huge time savings for photographers, as well as taking away the cost of purchasing props and storing them at home later.
Our showroom is filled with props and furniture that add individuality to a set, and as many are one of a kind, a very original set of photos for your clients. For our winter mini sessions, we carry vintage ice skates, snow shoes, wooden skiis, lanterns, red and black plaid suitcases, throws, and more. Why not use a rustic, vintage sled for the kids to sit on? How about a little red wagon, or a rustic, wooden cart that will comfortably hold two or three little ones! What about a rustic vintage crib that’s been converted to a day bed! This is perfection for the jammies shots everyone loves.
We offer photographers several options for Mini Sessions. If you choose to have a custom styled set, used only for your photography sessions, we’ll do so, according to your inspiration. Your fees are set according to the pieces used in the styled set. If we provide a styled set, and offer that for Mini Sessions, open to the public for reservations by anyone, sessions are open for booking on our website, and may be used by any photographers throughout the dates offered, for a minimum fee for each 30 minute session. If we offer more than one styled set to choose from during a weekend, you simply pay a sitting fee for each set you choose to use, and book that time for each session.
Be sure to get on our mailing list for newsletter updates for Valentine’s Sessions, Mommy and Me Sessions, and any other special announcements we have! We can assure you that your clients will love the indoor space and custom designed sets, and you’ll appreciate being inside where it’s warm!
As this Holiday Mini session season wraps up, we wish you a Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and all the best for 2019.
Take a look at a few of the photos shared with us during this Holiday season, and make plans to secure your space for next year! We’ll style new set ups in late summer, and open bookings by early September for next year’s Holiday mini sessions to be held for a limited time during the winter of 2019.
