This summer, we were thrilled to host a sweet baby shower for Sarah Barkley, a local photographer who has rented inventory from us in the past, and who was so happy to find The Loft of Elements Preserved as a nearby venue. Sarah is such a sweetheart, and we had so much fun hearing her ideas for the shower. As she and her husband had not made a pregnancy announcement on any social media, we didn’t want to post photos of the shower until after the baby was born, and the new parents had had the opportunity to make their announcement!
Sarah’s mom contacted us to get more information on booking the venue for her daughter’s baby shower several months before, and when Sarah and her mom came to The Loft for a tour, they fell in love with the space and all it offered. Not only do we have the advantage of so much natural light with the large, floor-to-ceiling windows, beautiful hardwood floors, pendant lighting and chandeliers, but the elegant space can be personalized for your event with one-of-a-kind rental pieces, seating, backdrops, table decor, rugs, and more.
Sarah chose a boho-theme for the shower, using a hand-made macrame backdrop created by her mother, which made a perfect photo opportunity for the happy parents-to-be! We decorated with our vintage antlers, geometric candle holders, birch logs accented by moss, and lots of tall gold candle holders. Our gold runner was casually layered on the 14 ft. Harvest table, set with geometrics, and gold vases, and then our favorite vintage wicker buggies and bassinet, were available for Sarah to use; we always offer these items for baby showers, which serve as such unique props!
Our vintage buffet was filled with all kinds of sweets, and we love the unique #sweetstable that it becomes when layered with so many varieties of desserts! Who doesn’t love to looking at and enjoying these tasty treats.
Several couples arrived to help with the decor setup, and filled the Baker’s Rack with stemware for a mimosa bar, along with a variety of drinks and drink containers. It’s so fun to see our inventory in use in such different ways for each event. That’s the joy of being able to either use our styling assistance, or have someone from your party in charge of styling! We leave that up to you to decide.
The couple also brought in some props of their own; each were specially chosen pieces that were going to be used in their new baby’s bedroom after the shower. The message of love was clear throughout the decor; this baby was loved “to the moon and back!” Touches of this theme were seen on the table decor, the guest favors, and on the hand-painted globe decorating the buffet table.
One very unique addition to Sarah and Zac’s baby shower was the “grazing table,” a live-edge black walnut charcuterie board, over 10 feet in length, placed atop two of our whiskey barrels! This table serves as the perfect table for any event, but especially those where guests are mingling! Whether used for a cocktail reception or as a casual addition to entertaining, our grazing tables are not found anywhere else in the Chicago area, and are such a feast for the eyes and the stomach, for any event! They chose to use a variety of meats, cheeses, chocolates, nuts, and fruit for their edible spread, but your choices for the use of a grazing table are unlimited! Grazing tables are certainly the newest and most fun trend in entertaining!
Sarah and Zac enjoyed the Lounge seating area as the perfect spot for photos, as well as to open their gifts! For this event, we used our black leather camelback, tufted settee, along with 2 black leather club chairs! The chairs were accented with pink pillows, and we used touches of gold as accent colors throughout the space. Behind the lounge seating area is where the macrame backdrop was set. We are in love with this backdrop, and anything Boho!
We’ve seen a few photos of the new baby since her birth, and wish Sarah and Zac many congratulations! One of our greatest joys, at the end of each event, is seeing our clients pleased with every aspect of their event! We aim to please, focus on the details of the client’s decor, and details in making a smooth and successful event! We’re so happy that Sarah and her mom chose The Loft for their baby shower, and hope that we’ll get to host another event for Sarah and Zac or some of their friends in the near future.
Whether you’re looking to plan a baby shower, a bridal shower, an engagement party, a rehearsal dinner, a milestone birthday, a vow renewal ceremony, or an elopement wedding and reception, we hope you’ll give us an opportunity to answer your questions and schedule a tour. The Loft is perfect for this type of intimate party, providing space for 65 seated guests, or up to 75 in a cocktail style reception. We’d love to hear your ideas and work with you to create the event of your dreams, as you celebrate life’s most important moments.
